Health and Wellbeing > Transport to Hospital/Doctor/Dentist

Organisation

East Bridgford Care Group

We are a volunteer group of people willing to be good neighbours in various ways in the East Bridgford area and surrounding villages.

We offer help with transport (mainly for medical reasons when alternative help is not available), collecting pensions or prescriptions, befriending and providing respite help to carers who may need a break from time to time.

TRANSPORT:
East Bridgford Care can arrange transport for residents of East Bridgford and Kneeton and the few surrounding villages for medical reasons (e.g. to the surgery, dentist, chiropodists, opticians or hospital appointments, etc.) where such help is not already provided by ambulance or hospital taxi and where other forms of transport are not available or possible.

Transport can also be provided for people wishing to visit friends or relatives in hospital or nursing homes. The volunteer driver charges at 30p per mile, but there are fixed charges for some journeys:

East Bridgford to QMC or City Hospital £6.50 return;
Newark Hospital £6.00 return;
Flintham, Aslockton or Whatton £2.50 return;
There is no fixed charge for local journeys within East Bridgford, Newton and Kneeton.

Please try to give at least 24 hours notice for transport. All volunteers carry an identity card with a photograph which you should always ask to see.

For more information on all services or to book transport please contact the co-ordinator, Mrs Alison Powell, on 07976 935476.

Collingham & District Village Care Transport Scheme

This is an independent volunteers association since 1982 which provides support to the patients of the practice, the residents of Collingham and the Medical Centre. Their activities include a transport scheme and meetings with health and social topics. The transport scheme is provided at a concessionary rate, as all drivers are volunteers. You can book your transport through the Co-ordinator on 01636 893001. The opening hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday (8.30 am – 6.00 pm). It is the donations of the Collingham residents and users of the transport scheme that allow this local support to continue. Details of Committee members, social events and transport information can be found on the Village Care notice board in the waiting room of the medical centre.

The Collingham Village Care Committee and Transport Scheme would be delighted to welcome any member of the local community who feel that they would be able to volunteer or donate time towards this highly valued community support. Please contact Barbara Stocks, Chair person, on 01636 892669.
