Who is a vulnerable adult?

A vulnerable adult is a person aged 18 years or over who may be unable to take care of themselves, or protect themselves from harm or from being exploited. This may be because they have a mental health problem, a disability, a sensory impairment, are old and frail, or have some form of illness.

Getting help

If you are being abused you do not have to put up with it:

  • tell someone you trust; or
  • call Nottinghamshire County Council on 0300 500 8080

and report what is happening to you.

If someone you know is being abused, or you have a concern that they may be, you should:

  • make sure that they are safe (if possible)
  • report your concern to Nottinghamshire County Council on 0300 500 8080.

Remember, if it is an emergency dial 999.
