The Langold Centre

We are a group of local people who have volunteered our time to help you. We have formed an organisation called the Langold Centre and have accessed funding to spend on helping you back to work and further your career prospects.

The following outlines the services available:

  • help with job applications and curriculum vitae writing service
  • local and national job vacancies database
  • local government job vacancies
  • free stationery and postage for job applications
  • 6 computers with high speed broadband access available free of charge
  • a variety of training courses to suit the individual
  • video conferencing facilities including the processing concessionary travel passes
  • citizen's advice bureau services via our video conferencing unit
  • Bassetlaw help point
  • Tax Aid services avaiable via our video confering Unit
  • Disability information and advice service including help with completing and submitting claim forms
  • free tea and coffee is available at the centre

Community based training in a variety of areas, including IT for beginners. Courses are available for over 50s, and the majority of courses are free of charge or very reasonably priced.

The Mansfield centre provides a range of training including computer training for beginners to advanced, courses in literacy and numeracy are also available. There is also a desktop publishing workshop run by Newlink which operates as a small business providing facilities for students to take NVQ Using Information Technology and NVQ Administration course at various levels.

All NewLink centres are fully accessible to disabled people.

Nottingham U3A has drawn together men and women of diverse backgrounds and with varied experience who might not otherwise have had the chance to meet. We enjoy one anothers company and friendship as well as the very varied learning experience.

Nottingham U3A is an active society with lots of different groups to get involved in. Interest groups include wine tasting, rambling, Shakespeare, opera, French Literature, sport, and groups who enjoy cinema visits, lunch clubs, book clubs, and going to concerts and plays.

There is a timetable of events classes and clubs available on the website. Depending on the activity the society meets in several venues across Nottingham.

Anyone who is retired from full-time gainful employment is welcome to join us. We are a registered charity run entirely by volunteer members, and encourage our members to get out and about on a wide variety of visits and activities.
