Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire - Advice & Information Service

The Age UK Notts Information & Advice service operates throughout the City and County of Nottingham. Our information and advice service is independent, impartial, free and confidential.

We typically help local people in later life claim in excess of £2 million in benefit entitlements each year. We can help with benefit entitlements, such as:

  • Pension Credit.
  • Rent/Council Tax rebates.
  • Attendance Allowance.
  • Disability Living Allowance.
  • Carer’s Allowance.
  • Social Fund payments
  • Bereavement benefits.

We can also help with issues such as:

  • Gas and electricity bills.
  • Aids and adaptations.
  • Care at home.
  • Residential care.
  • Other local services and support.

Drop-in sessions

We hold drop-in advice surgeries every Monday and Thursday morning (10am to 12 noon) at Bradbury House, our Nottingham base. No appointment is necessary.

Home visiting service

We can offer home visits to disabled or housebound older people in need of help, or advice related to welfare benefit claims. Where appropriate, we will contact local advice-giving services on your behalf.


The success of the Information and Advice Service depends on the dedicated support of a team of trained volunteers. Contact us, without obligation, if you are interested in joining us.

Affordable Warmth Solutions

National Grid is tackling some of the issues caused by increasing energy prices and the growth of Fuel Poverty in the UK. National Grid has established a new Community Interest Company (CIC), Affordable Warmth Solutions CIC. Subject to final contract arrangements National Grid Affordable Warmth Solutions will through an innovative funding arrangement with a leading energy supplier invest millions of pounds in a programme to support the installation of new gas connections, gas heating systems and other energy efficiency measures to some of the most deprived areas of its gas distribution network area.

National Grid Affordable Warmth Solutions approach is based on a whole community, whole house package of affordable warmth measures that includes the provision of gas connections and new or improved heating systems to some 5000 homes. It will also provide additional in house support through its Energy Supplier partner; qualifying households may also be eligible for free loft and/or cavity wall insulation and tailored energy saving and tariff advice.

Heating and insulation from the Warm Front Scheme

The Warm Front Scheme installs heating and insulation measures up to the value of £3,500, or £6,000 where oil central heating or alternative low carbon technologies are recommended. It is for people on certain disability or income-related benefits. To be eligible you must own your home or rent it from a private landlord.
